Social Chain

Rebuilding a future-proof identity from the ground up.

- PROJECT

Social Chain Brand Identity

— ROLE

Art Director

Graphic Designer

— DATE

May 2020

Social Chain are a global digital marketing agency founded in 2014. They have enjoyed an almost unprecedented level of growth over their initial few years, and have again found themselves in need of a fresh brand identity that truly reflects the agency that they are today.

As Art Director of Social Chain, I was tasked with leading this project. We developed a bold and futuristic identity, one which goes completely against the grain of what you would typically expect of a marketing agency in the current climate.

We developed a modern logotype and icon, featuring the ampersand at the heart of the design along with a refined colour palette familiar to those interested in interior design.

Further to this we produced a brochure, complete with those extra special physical touches on the printed edition that ensure a potential investor's first experience with the brand is a memorable one.

Manchester Storm

Bringing a local icon into the 21st Century

— PROJECT NAME

Manchester Storm rebrand

— ROLE

Graphic Designer

— DATE

April 2015

Manchester Storm are an ice hockey team based in Altrincham, UK. They are a team very close to my heart since I could often be found at the then-named MEN Arena with my Grandad in my much younger days.

Sadly, Storm went into administration shortly after the millennium, however have since found new life at Planet Ice in Altrincham. Though I felt that the visual brand was left behind… I took it upon myself to give their visual identity an overhaul, developing a new logo, guidelines, social assets and merchandise before presenting it to the heads of the team. Whilst they didn't feel that it was the right time to progress with an entirely new look and feel, I was brought in to assist with building them a graphic design package that helped them take their visuals to the next level.

Something Paper

A fresh approach to luxury stationery

— PROJECT

Something Paper Brand Identity

— ROLE

Graphic Designer

— DATE

May 2020

Something Paper approached me to develop their new brand around luxury stationery.

I approached this by creating a series of routes as shown below, before arriving at the final design seen above. This brand incorporates a symmetrical line-drawn mark representing both the 'S' of Something as well the folded corners for the paper. We settled on a monospace typeface as this really strengthened the clean and crisp nature of the high quality product.
